Mel Gibson's racist rant to his baby mama Oksana Grigorieva is getting the attention of people all over Hollywood. Civil rights leader Reverend Jesse Jackson is fed up with Gibson's tirades and says he needs help. He says his outburst "demonstrates once again that we are far from a society that is beyond race and racism.
"His (Gibson) penchants for anti-Semitic and racist diatribes reveal the actor's fundamental character flaw. He needs help."
Tapes in which Gibson reportedly used the 'N' word have been submitted to a judge by Grigorieva as part of their child support case.
"You're an embarrassment to me," Mel tells her at one point in the conversation.
"You look like a f***ing pig in heat, and if you get raped by a pack of n***ers, it will be your fault."
And it wouldn't be a Hollywood court case without Gloria Allred's two cents. We could see her sniffing out Grigorieva as a client from another coastline, but so far the two have not synced up. In an open letter to Gibson, she writes:
Dear Mr. Gibson,
Yesterday, shocking s*xist and racist statements reportedly from you were published around the world.
You allegedly told the mother of your youngest child that the way that she was dressed would get her “raped by a pack of N---ers.” As an attorney who has represented many s*xual assault victims and as a woman who is a survivor of rape myself, I want you to know how deeply offensive, appalling and harmful your reported statements are.
She continues:
Also, I am disgusted that you would use a racist myth to suggest that African American men would want to rape a white woman. Most rapists are not African American and your reported statement is clearly and simply a racist stereotype about African American men.
You owe all women and African American men a public apology and action to rehabilitate yourself so that you will never make such s*xist and racist statements again.
We all look forward to your response.
Gibson was arrested in 2006 on suspicion of drunk driving and hit the officers with a tirade of anti-Semitic remarks.
"F**king Jews... The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world," Mel said.
When a female officer showed too much interest in him, he asked "What do you think you're looking at, sugar t*ts?"
