The King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks (DNRP) is a leading public agency that protects and preserves King County’s unsurpassed quality of life. Home to Washington state’s urban core with just over two million residents, King County also features thousands of miles of streams, lakeshore coastline, and more than 1,000 square miles of forests. This natural beauty includes high-quality habitat for a tremendous diversity of fish and wildlife – including some endangered species.
DNRP’s four major divisions – Solid Waste, Parks and Recreation, Water and Land Resources, and Wastewater Treatment – perform a number of tasks that range from protecting public health through safe garbage management and wastewater treatment, providing parks, trails and other recreational amenities, to preserving farmland and forests around the county.
