Sounds like he was desperate for some conversation(lol). It's a shame that people don't recognize the mentally ill on sight, but she should have recognized by his conversation that she needed a quick lie to pacify him. I knew a young woman, who told me of a time when she was coming home late from partying, that a man was going to rape her in the entrance of her building. She told him that he didn't need to get all rough because she would take him into her apartment so that they could do it right. The rapist ran off.
