IT IS AMAZING TO LISTEN TO RAND PAUL ON THIS... (421 hits)

Rand Paul, who appeared on the Rush Limbaugh show today, is trying to distance himself from his racist stance on the Civil Rights Act of 1964, by comparing himself to one of its champions, Dr. Martin Luther King and to abolitionist, Frederick Douglass. While Martin Luther King fought against Jim Crow laws and segregation and Frederick Douglass fought against slavery, Rand Paul claims his major fight is to allow restaurants to let people smoke. Here is his op-ed from the Bowling Green Daily News.

I am unlike many folks who run for office. I am an idealist. When I read history I side with abolitionists such as William Lloyd Garrison and Frederick Douglas who fought for 30 years to end slavery and to integrate public transportation in the free North in the 1840s. I see our failure to end slavery for decade after decade as a failure of weak-kneed politicians. [...]

Segregation ended only after a great and momentous uprising by idealists like Martin Luther King Jr., who provoked weak-kneed politicians to action.

In 2010, there are battles that need to be fought, and they have nothing to do with race or discrimination, but rather the rights of people to be free from a nanny state.

For example, I am opposed to the government telling restaurant owners that they cannot allow smoking in their establishments. I believe we as consumers can choose whether to patronize a smoke-filled restaurant or do business with a smoke-free option. Think about it — this overreach is now extending to mandates about fat and calorie counts in menus. Do we really need the government managing all of these decisions for us?

Comparing himself to MLK? There will never be another MLK. Ron Paul is a nutcase.

Interesting to note that after his Rachel Maddow fiasco, he will not sit with any journalist who will ask him tough questions. He goes to those who agreee with him for creampuffs.

What does that tell you about his character?

The fox news network has become so pitiful until their network is no longe a safe haven for those like R.P and even S Palin...this network has botton so down in the dumps they now have beck coming to OOReilly and Oreilly calling Beck wrong...Hannity goes from saying our president is correct to saying he is not and doing so by proving his own right-wing extremems guest wrong...I notice he does this with the feamles...safer to pull this con, maybe?

I get the biggest kick out of those on teh right acting like we don't right now have a Republican governor...and, the governor we had we kicked out of office....now what Ms spending $81 million and counting runing for governor in our state of CA> is going to be running up against with Brown...The unions hated Brown when he was our governor. He would not cater to them...He was such a penny pincher with taxpayer's money as a single man he lived in an apartment rather than live in the governor's mansion...

This state in today the leading state in clean energy because of Brown getting state office buildings before their time energy saving solar heatings, ect....Much like our president is unique for a president so was our Governor Moon Beam (smile) There is really nothing negative they can say about his therefore they will continue to try and convince us out here that we don't have a Republican govrnor, because we in this Democrat never vote in a Republican governor... lol (smile)

Ran Paul the lady running against senater Reid and the female who got fired from her CEO job and from teh Mccain president campaign running against Barbara Boxer who is right now giving BP HOLY HELL every day as chair of the Environment committee is the best they have to run for the right then I am going to try very hard to feel sorry for them...does any party on the Right recognize R.P yet / still ????? lol???(smile)

these people on the right act like they are socialpaths or something, maybe masacist?!? (smile)
