CONNECTICUT - Sergeant Chris Davis of the Manchester Police Department held a news conference this morning to update the public on the deadly workplace shooting that took place on Tuesday in Manchester, Connecticut.
Officials say Omar Thornton had been caught stealing beer from Hartford Distributors and was asked to resign. He opened fire as he was being led from the building. Nine people, including Thornton, died.
"This is a terrible tragedy that occurred yesterday," said Davis.
"We are still trying to piece together the circumstances," said Davis.
"The investigation is continuing...Connecticut State Police are still assisting us in processing the crime site," said Davis.
"The company has not reported any type of racial discrimination complaints on his behalf," said Davis.
"It appears that the first few (victims) may have been targeted, but we don't know for sure," said Davis.
"He had no previous arrest record," said Davis of Thornton.
